Pokémon Complex Crystal feels like someone took your old Game Boy Color cartridge and secretly upgraded it while you weren’t looking. At first glance, it’s the same Johto you remember—until your rival’s team wipes the floor with you because they actually have strategy now. Wild Pokémon show up in weird places, some moves got tweaked, and suddenly that Zubat you caught knows Air Cutter. Nice surprise, right?
It’s still Crystal at heart, just… sharper. Gym leaders don’t mess around, and you’ll actually need to think about type matchups instead of brute-forcing your way through. There’s little touches everywhere—like being able to run indoors (finally) or finding a Mareep where it definitely wasn’t before. If you’ve played the original to death, this version keeps you guessing without losing that cozy nostalgia hit.
Fair warning though: bring your A-game. This isn’t a casual replay—it’s Johto with teeth.
