Pokémon Glazed (Beta 5) is one of those fan-made gems that somehow nails the feel of an official Pokémon game while adding its own flavor. You start off in the usual way—picking your first Pokémon—but things quickly take a turn when you realize there’s a whole new region (Tunod) to explore alongside Johto and Rankor. The story gets surprisingly deep, too—something about parallel worlds threatening the Pokémon universe? Yeah, it’s wild.
What I love is how it balances nostalgia with new stuff. Mega Evolutions pop up, and you’ll run into Pokémon from later gens mixed in with the classics. The gym leaders don’t mess around either—some of those battles had me resetting a few times. Little touches like smoother movement and dialogue that actually makes you chuckle keep it from feeling like just another rom hack.
If you’ve ever wished the old GBA games had a bit more meat to them, this is the closest thing to a "what if" version made by fans who clearly get it. Just be ready to lose an afternoon or three.
