Game Overview
Pokémon SoulSilver is basically a love letter to the original Gold and Silver games, but with way nicer graphics and some neat extras. You start off in New Bark Town (just like the old days), pick your first Pokémon—Cyndaquil was always my go-to—and then it’s off through Johto’s forests, caves, and weirdly persistent Team Rocket hideouts.
The coolest part? Your lead Pokémon actually follows you around on the map, which makes everything feel way more personal. And if you had the Pokéwalker back in the day, you could take your little buddy for a real-world stroll to earn XP and items—kind of like a primitive Pokémon Go, but with way more charm.
Gym battles still feel tense, the music slaps, and that moment when you beat the Elite Four only to realize Kanto’s waiting for you? Pure nostalgia magic. Just don’t expect your friends to understand why you’re still obsessed with a DS game in 2024.
