Pokemon Sovereign of the Skies is one of those fan-made GBA roms that actually feels polished. The flying mechanic changes things up—you're not just walking through tall grass, you're gliding between floating islands and diving into cloud banks to find rare pokemon.

Early on, I got stuck trying to figure out how to reach a high-altitude town. Turns out you need to chain a few gust boosts off thermal vents, which was frustrating at first but satisfying once it clicked. The battles are standard pokemon fare, but the aerial encounters keep it fresh.

Some of the sprite work is rough around the edges, but the sense of exploration makes up for it. Pokemon Sovereign of the Skies nails that feeling of stumbling onto something unexpected mid-flight.
