Play Polarium Online
Draw lines to flip tiles from black to white in this puzzle game, aiming for a uniform color across the grid while tackling obstacles and planning your moves.
Polarium came out for the Nintendo DS in 2004, developed by Mitchell Corporation. It was one of those early puzzle games that really showed off what the touch screen could do, back when the system was still new and people were figuring out what kinds of games worked best with a stylus. It didn't have the big name recognition of some other titles, but it had a clean, minimal style that stood out.
You don't control a character; you just use the stylus to draw lines across the grid, flipping tiles from black to white or white to black. The goal is to make every tile on the screen the same color with a single continuous stroke. Later levels introduce obstacles like gray tiles that can't be flipped, or require you to plan several moves ahead. The pacing is calm but the difficulty ramps up sharply, and it feels satisfying when you finally see the path and execute it without lifting the stylus.
