Prince of Persia: Warrior Within on GameCube is way darker than the first game—like, the Prince isn’t just acrobatically flipping around palaces anymore. He’s got this grungy, pissed-off vibe, dodging some creepy time monster while slashing through enemies with dual swords. The combat’s brutal, with finishing moves that actually feel satisfying when you pull them off.
You’ll still do the usual wall-running and ledge-grabbing, but now there’s this whole time-rewind mechanic that saves you when you mess up a jump (which happens a lot). The puzzles are sneaky—some had me backtracking through levels just to flip a switch I didn’t notice earlier. And yeah, the soundtrack’s basically early 2000s metal, which somehow fits when you’re fighting sand monsters in a crumbling fortress.
It’s not perfect—the camera fights you sometimes—but it’s got this weird, moody charm that makes it stand out. Definitely the edgy middle child of the trilogy.
