Man, Pro Action Replay was basically magic for your Genesis. You’d plug this little cartridge in, punch in some weird codes you found in gaming magazines, and suddenly—boom—Sonic’s got 99 lives or you’re cruising through Contra without breaking a sweat.
Half the fun was experimenting. Some codes worked perfectly, others crashed your game in hilarious ways, and a few unlocked stuff the devs clearly never meant for anyone to see. No hand-holding, no explanations—just you, a notepad full of scribbled hex codes, and the glorious chaos that followed.
It felt like having cheat codes for real life, except the only thing you were hacking was Altered Beast so you could start at level 3 instead of suffering through those awful first stages again. Absolute legend of a device.
