Play Psycho Dream Online
Pick Ryo or Maria, then slash and whip your way through monster-packed Tokyo streets—enemies burst into power-ups, and sometimes you suddenly sprout wings or laser armor. Weird, weighty, and weirdly satisfying.

Psycho Dream feels like a hidden gem from the SNES era—sort of a mix between Valis and a less flashy Castlevania. You pick between Ryo, a sword-wielding demon hunter, or Maria, who cracks a mean whip, and then it’s off to slice through hordes of monsters in what looks like a slightly run-down version of Tokyo. The levels are straightforward side-scrolling brawls, but there’s something satisfying about the way enemies explode into little power-ups when you take them down.
At first, I thought Maria’s whip would be the better choice (reach matters, right?), but Ryo’s sword has this weirdly satisfying weight to it. And then there are the red power-ups—these wild transformations where Ryo suddenly gets laser armor or Maria sprouts angel wings and starts flinging homing shots. It’s ridiculous in the best way. The jumping can feel a little stiff, and some enemies just love to cheap-shot you from off-screen, but there’s a weird charm to its jank. If you’re into obscure ‘90s action games, this one’s worth a look.
