Game Overview

Puchi Carat came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed and published by Taito. It was a time when puzzle games were everywhere on portables, but this one stood out with its bright, clean look and a clever twist on the block-breaking formula. It felt right at home on the GBC, a system packed with quick, engaging games you could play in short bursts.

You control a small paddle at the bottom of the screen, bouncing a ball upward to break colored gems. The main goal is to clear your own screen before your opponent does, either against the computer or another player. Each gem you break sends a new row of blocks to drop onto the other side, creating a back-and-forth tug of war. The game starts calmly but quickly escalates into a tense race; one mistake with the paddle can bury you under incoming blocks. It feels sharp and responsive, a mix of careful aim and fast reactions that keeps you locked in until the very last block shatters.
