Puzzle Bobble, known as Bust-A-Move outside Japan, was released for the Neo Geo in 1999 by SNK. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when the Neo Geo was still respected for its arcade-perfect ports but faced growing competition from newer consoles. The game itself was a straightforward adaptation of Taito's earlier arcade hit, offering the same colorful, methodical bubble-matching action without much added flair.

You control a small cannon at the bottom of the screen, aiming and firing colored bubbles upward to form groups of three or more of the same color, which then pop and disappear. The main goal is to clear each screen of all bubbles before they descend and reach a bottom line. Key mechanics include using the walls for bank shots to reach tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping supporting groups. The pace starts relaxed but quickly demands careful planning, especially as the ceiling gets lower and the layouts more complex. It feels satisfying to set off a big chain and watch half the screen vanish at once.
