Pyramid came out in 1990 for the NES from American Video Entertainment, a company known for some of the more obscure and experimental titles on the console. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when many developers were trying to find new spins on established formulas, and this game definitely fits that description.

You control a lone explorer navigating a massive, multi-level pyramid from a top-down perspective, screen by screen. Your goal is to find and collect all the treasure chests hidden within its maze-like chambers while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards like pits and falling blocks. Two mechanics define the challenge: you can only see a small radius around your character, leaving the rest of the screen in darkness, and you must push blocks to create paths or trigger traps. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with a high difficulty stemming from limited visibility and the constant threat of getting stuck or crushed. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move requires careful thought.
