Quest RPG came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Imagineer and published by Ubisoft. It was one of those late-era releases that tried to squeeze a little more adventure out of the aging hardware, offering a traditional fantasy experience without much fanfare. The game doesn't push the system to its limits, but it holds its own with a straightforward, earnest approach to the genre.
You control a young hero tasked with gathering scattered pieces of a sacred artifact to prevent a growing darkness. Movement is screen by screen, with each area containing enemies, hidden paths, or simple puzzles. Combat uses a basic action system where you swing your sword or use a bow, timing your strikes to interrupt enemy attacks. Dungeons are multi-level mazes filled with traps and tougher foes, requiring careful navigation and resource management. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas. It feels like a quiet, personal journey where every small victory matters.
