Radiant Historia came out on the Nintendo DS in 2010, developed by Atlus. It was part of that late DS era where developers really pushed what the dual screens could do for complex RPGs, offering a deep story without relying on big 3D spectacle.
You control Stocke, an agent caught between two branching histories, and your main goal is to prevent the world from turning into a barren wasteland. The core of the game involves moving between these two timelines at will, using the knowledge gained in one to solve dead ends in the other. Combat happens on a 3x3 grid where you can physically push enemies into clusters to hit them all at once with area attacks. The pacing is deliberate, with a lot of dialogue and careful timeline management, making it feel more like a strategic puzzle than a typical action RPG. It feels like carefully untangling a massive, intricate knot where every pull on a thread changes the whole shape.
