Resident Evil 3: Nemesis throws you right into the chaos of Raccoon City’s collapse—zombies everywhere, buildings burning, and Jill Valentine just trying to survive. It’s set during the same nightmare as RE2, but this time you’re dodging something way worse than Mr. X: Nemesis, a bio-weapon that chases you through doors, shoots rockets, and generally refuses to take "no" for an answer. The first time he burst through a wall at me, I nearly threw my controller.
It plays like classic Resident Evil—tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds, that satisfying clunk of a typewriter saving your progress—but with some smart tweaks. You can quick-turn now, which is a lifesaver when Nemesis is breathing down your neck, and mixing gunpowder to craft ammo adds a little strategy to scavenging. The choices you make actually matter too, changing how certain scenes play out or even which ending you get. And yeah, the zombies look gnarlier this time around.
If you’re playing the PC version, the graphics hold up surprisingly well, and skipping door animations is a godsend after the tenth hallway. Plus, you get all of Jill’s outfits right away, including that ridiculous tube top and miniskirt combo. The mercenary mini-game’s a fun bonus too—playing as one of Umbrella’s goons gives the whole disaster a different vibe. Just don’t expect to relax much. Nemesis makes sure of that.
