Roadsters Trophy is one of those Game Boy Color racers that somehow slipped under the radar—which is a shame, because it’s a total blast. The moment you start, you’re hit with this bright, chunky pixel art and cars that look like they’ve rolled straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon. No realism here, just pure arcade chaos.
What surprised me was how good it feels to play. The handling’s snappy, drifting around corners actually works (unlike some racers where it’s a death sentence), and the AI isn’t afraid to nudge you into a wall if you’re hogging the track. Career mode’s got just enough upgrades and unlockables to make you care, but it never bogs you down with menus—you’re racing within seconds.
It’s no Mario Kart killer, but for a portable racer from 2000, it holds up way better than it has any right to. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro speed, give this one a lap or two.
