Game Overview

Robot Battler was a SegaNet exclusive for the Genesis, a late release from Sega that tried to capitalize on the early promise of online console gaming. It was a niche title, one of those games you only heard about if you were plugged into the right bulletin boards or knew someone with a SegaNet subscription.

You pilot a large, customizable robot in one-on-one arena fights. The main goal is to deplete your opponent's energy bar using a combination of punches, kicks, and a limited-use special weapon unique to your chosen mech. The combat is slow and deliberate, focused on positioning and timing your blocks rather than rapid combos. The difficulty comes from predicting your opponent's moves and managing your own energy for attacks and defense. It feels like a heavy, tactical chess match, just with giant metal fists.
