Rockman 2 (or Mega Man 2 if you grew up outside Japan) is one of those NES classics that still holds up. You jump, shoot, and steal robot powers—just like the first game—but everything feels tighter here. The levels are mean but fair, the music slaps (seriously, that Wily Stage 1 theme is legendary), and those eight robot masters? Each one’s a puzzle—some are way easier if you grab the right weapon first.

Fun detail: This was the first Mega Man with E-tanks, so you can actually heal mid-stage instead of praying for a random energy drop. And thank god for the password system—no more leaving your NES on overnight because you couldn’t beat Quick Man’s stage in one sitting.

It’s still brutal in spots (looking at you, Boobeam Trap), but that’s part of the charm. If you’ve only played modern platformers, this’ll either make you nostalgic or give you a new appreciation for checkpoints.
