Play Rockman ZX Online
You dash, wall-jump, and transform between biometal forms mid-combo to adapt to different threats—those tight controls make even the tough platforming sections feel fair. The spritework pops, especially when massive bosses take up half the screen.

Rockman ZX is one of those DS games that feels like it punches way above its weight. You start off with basic jumps and shots, but before long you're switching between different "biometal" forms mid-air to dash through spikes or smash through armored enemies. The transformations actually matter—some levels straight-up require specific forms, so you can't just brute-force your way through.
What surprised me was how fluid the controls feel for a DS action game. Wall-jumping between narrow shafts while dodging enemy fire becomes second nature after a few deaths (and there will be deaths). The sprite work holds up too—bosses like the fire-breathing lizard thing still look fantastic when they fill half the screen.
It's not perfect—the overworld map is kinda confusing at first—but when you're in the actual levels, it's classic Mega Man-style action with just enough new tricks to feel fresh. The final boss still gives me nightmares.
