Rockman ZX came out on the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Capcom. It was part of that early DS era where developers were still figuring out how to use both screens, and this one used the bottom for a map and menu while the action happened on top. It continued the Mega Man Zero series' story but tried to open things up a bit more.
You control a human character who can merge with different Biometal units, each giving you a unique weapon and movement ability, like a fire sword or an electric whip. The main goal is to explore interconnected areas, defeat bosses, and stop a corporate conspiracy. You switch forms on the fly to solve environmental puzzles or exploit enemy weaknesses, and the levels are designed with a lot of vertical platforming and hidden paths to find. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is pretty demanding, especially during boss fights that require quick reflexes and smart form changes. It feels like a constant test of your ability to adapt and execute under pressure.
