Play Rocky Rodent Online
You play as a rat with wild hairstyles—your Afro stabs enemies, mohawks boomerang across the screen, and braids turn into grappling hooks. Mess up and lose your hair, you lose a life.

Rocky Rodent came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo, developed by Irem. It was one of those mid-lifecycle SNES platformers that didn't get a ton of attention, but it had a quirky charm that made it stand out from the usual mascot fare. You controlled a blue rat named Rocky, and the whole premise revolved around his hair, which was as much a tool as it was a style statement.
You guide Rocky through urban stages, clearing them screen by screen. Your main goal is to rescue a millionaire's daughter, but the real draw is how you use Rocky's hair to attack and navigate. You can pick up power-ups that change your hairstyle: an Afro lets you stab downward on enemies, a mohawk becomes a boomerang you throw, and braids function as a grappling hook to swing across gaps. The game moves at a brisk pace, and some sections demand quick switching between these abilities. It's not overly difficult, but it keeps you alert. Playing it feels inventive and a little absurd, in the best way possible.
