Game Overview

You're in charge of the British garrison at Rorke's Drift, staring down thousands of Zulu warriors with just over a hundred men. The game plays out in real-time, but you can pause to give orders—which is good, because things get chaotic fast. I kept forgetting to breathe during the first attack wave.

There are two ways to play: historically accurate (the Zulus attack like they did in 1879) or unpredictable (they mix up their tactics). Either way, you'll be micromanaging every rifleman—dragging them into cover, choosing between kneeling or standing fire, and sometimes just praying when melee breaks out. The little soldier sprites actually look stressed when they're overwhelmed, which... yeah, fair.

It's one of those games where you lose badly at first, then suddenly everything clicks when you realize where to barricade the biscuit boxes. The British won this battle against impossible odds, and somehow the game makes that feel both achievable and utterly terrifying.
