Roswell Conspiracies came out on the Game Boy Color in 2001, developed by Red Storm Entertainment. It was one of those late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze a bit more out of the hardware, offering a moody, conspiracy-laden adventure right when handhelds were starting to shift toward more advanced systems. The game leaned into its X-Files-esque premise without a lot of fuss, fitting right in with the era's taste for shadowy government plots and extraterrestrial mysteries.
You control an agent investigating alien cover-ups, moving screen by screen through military bases and other clandestine locations. Your main goal is to uncover evidence while avoiding or engaging guards and strange creatures. Signature mechanics include using a limited flashlight to explore dark areas, solving simple environmental puzzles to progress, and managing your ammunition carefully during tense shootouts. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, and the difficulty can spike when you're low on health or ammo. It feels like a cautious, slightly janky crawl through someone else's paranoid fantasy.
