Rune Factory 3 came out for the Nintendo DS in 2010, developed by Marvelous Entertainment. It was part of that wave of DS games that really leaned into mixing genres, blending farming life with dungeon crawling in a way that felt fresh at the time, especially on a handheld.
You play as Micah, an amnesiac who can transform into a sheep-like monster called a Wooly. Your main goal is to bring humans and monsters together by restoring the floating Sharance Tree. You spend your days farming crops, raising monsters, and crafting tools, then venture into dungeons where you fight enemies with swords, spears, or magic. The pacing is relaxed; you can focus on relationships with townsfolk, including marriage, without feeling rushed. It feels like a cozy, low-pressure adventure where every day offers something new to discover.
