Game Overview
Rune Factory 3 is like if Harvest Moon got bitten by an RPG and turned into something way more interesting. You start off as this amnesiac guy who can transform into a sheep—yeah, a sheep—and suddenly you're farming, fighting monsters, and trying to figure out why the villagers keep giving you side-eye. The dungeons are simple but fun, and the farming feels just deep enough without being overwhelming.
What really hooked me were the characters. Sharance Village is full of weirdos, from the overly serious blacksmith to the girl who’s way too into turnips. You can date (and eventually marry) pretty much anyone, which is hilarious when half the candidates act like they’d rather be anywhere else. The combat’s basic, but swinging a sword after a long day of watering crops hits different.
It’s not perfect—the graphics are very much DS-era, and some mechanics feel dated now—but there’s something weirdly cozy about it. If you ever wanted a farming sim with occasional dungeon crawling and sheep-based identity crises, this is your game.
