Saint Seiya - Ougon Densetsu [hFFE] is an NES action-RPG where you play as the Bronze Saints, fighting to protect Athena. The combat feels stiff at first—button mashing doesn’t work, and timing your Cosmo attacks takes some getting used to.
The sprites are small but detailed for an NES game, and the music nails that 80s anime vibe. What surprised me was how much grinding it takes to stand a chance against later bosses. You’ll spend a lot of time replaying early stages just to level up.
It’s rough around the edges, but if you’re a fan of the series, there’s something satisfying about seeing the Saints in 8-bit form. Just don’t expect a deep RPG—it’s more about nostalgia than mechanics.
