Play Samurai Shodown on Snes Online

Pick a warrior, swing some swords—dodging that possessed preacher’s nonsense while figuring out why one guy fights with a log. The SNES version’s rough around the edges, but those blade clashes still feel good.

Game Overview

Samurai Shodown on SNES throws you into feudal Japan with a pretty wild setup—some possessed preacher named Amakusa is trying to drown the world in darkness, and it’s up to you to stop him. You pick from 12 fighters (plus three secret ones if you’re lucky), each with their own reasons for taking him down. The roster’s got everything: ninjas, sword-wielding maniacs, even a guy who fights with a giant log. No joke.

First few minutes? You’ll probably mash buttons trying to figure out how Haohmaru’s sword swings work or why Galford’s dog keeps biting people. The SNES version feels a little stripped down compared to the arcade original, and yeah, Earthquake’s missing here—blame the hardware. But the pixel art still pops, and those crunchy sword clashes never get old. Just don’t expect fancy combos—this is more about timing and reading your opponent.

It’s one of those games where losing feels like your fault, not the game’s. And when you finally land that perfect counter-slash? Chef’s kiss.
