Saturday Night Slam Masters came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, a Capcom game that fit right in with the era's love for arcade style beat 'em ups and wrestling. It wasn't trying to be a serious sports sim; it was built for quick, chaotic fun, the kind of game you'd pop in when friends came over.
You pick one of several exaggerated wrestlers, each with their own special moves, and jump into matches where the goal is to pin your opponent or throw them out of the ring. The signature mechanics are the double team moves you can pull off with a partner and the super moves that fill up as you deal damage. The pacing is fast, the difficulty can spike sharply against the CPU, and it feels like controlled mayhem from start to finish. It captures the over the top spectacle of pro wrestling perfectly.
