Scurge: Hive came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2006, developed by Orbital Media. It was part of that later wave of GBA games that really tried to push the hardware, offering a more substantial, console-like experience in your hands. You don't see many isometric action games on the platform, so it always stood out for trying something a bit different.

You control Jenosa Arma, a bounty hunter whose suit is slowly being consumed by a hostile alien organism. Your main goal is to purge an infested research facility, which involves clearing rooms of enemies, solving environmental puzzles, and hunting for keycards to progress. The core loop is methodical; you explore the station screen by screen, using a mix of a rapid-fire energy weapon and a slower, more powerful cannon to deal with different threats. A constant health drain from the infection forces you to move with purpose, always looking for decontamination stations to reset the timer. It creates a tense, deliberate pace where every new room feels like a calculated risk. Playing it feels like a careful, constant battle against the environment itself.
