Game Overview
Shanghai III on SNES takes the classic tile-matching puzzle game and gives it a zodiac twist. You’ve got twelve rounds themed after Chinese zodiac animals, and the real challenge is hitting that 10K score before time runs out—no continues allowed, so no second chances.
At first, the stacks of tiles look impossible, but you’ve got a few tricks: Helps nudge you toward the right move, and Peeps let you peek under the top layer. The catch? You only get a handful of each, so wasting them early hurts. Chain matches together fast enough, and you’ll squeeze out a little extra time, which is clutch when the clock’s ticking down.
Clear the whole board, and you’re thrown into a bonus round where you can rack up extra points or even snag more Helps and Peeps. It’s satisfying when everything clicks, but man, those later rounds get brutal. The zodiac theme gives it just enough personality to stand out from other Mahjong solitaire clones.
