Shien’s Revenge is one of those weird, forgotten SNES gems—a first-person shooter where you play as a ninja on rails, blasting through waves of enemies while the game drags you forward. It’s like Operation Wolf but with way more throwing stars and demons popping out of nowhere.
You’ve got two weapons: shuriken for distance and a dagger if things get too close. The dagger feels oddly satisfying when some enemy ninja lunges at you and you just swipe them out of the air. The candles at the bottom are your health bar, which is a nice touch—until you realize how fast they burn out when you’re swarmed.
Boss fights are the real highlight, with these massive creatures that take up half the screen. You’ll waste a ton of shuriken before figuring out their weak spots. And those screen-clearing scrolls? Absolute lifesavers when things get chaotic. Just don’t expect a deep story—it’s basically “rescue your ninja buddy from monsters” and then straight into the action.
It’s janky, it’s loud, and it’s way more fun than it has any right to be.
