You control Shrek, moving him through side-scrolling levels to rescue Fiona and break Rumpelstiltskin's contract. The main actions are straightforward: you use your ogre strength to punch and stomp enemies, break objects for coins, and occasionally solve puzzles by interacting with the environment. The touchscreen is used for specific actions, like rubbing the screen to polish a suit of armor or tilting the console to steer a cart, which breaks up the platforming. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty is on the easier side, making it accessible for younger players. It feels like a straightforward, uncomplicated romp through the movie's world.
