Game Overview

Silk Worm came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, a product of Tecmo. It was part of that wave of late 80s NES games that explored more niche ideas, often built around a simple but clever hook. You don't see many games like it, even from that era.

You and a friend control two separate vehicles: a fast helicopter that flies high and a slower, sturdier jeep that stays grounded. The goal is to pilot these machines through horizontally scrolling stages, destroying every enemy vehicle and structure in your path. The core mechanics are built around this duo; the helicopter can cover more airspace but is fragile, while the jeep deals with ground targets and can take more punishment. The screen gets incredibly busy, packed with enemy fire and explosions that demand constant movement and precise shooting. It's a game that feels frantic and cooperative, a true test of communication and reflexes.
