Play Sim Ant Online
You start as a tiny ant colony digging tunnels and scavenging food, but soon you're orchestrating full-scale wars against rival nests—one misplaced soldier and your whole empire crumbles.

Sim Ant came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Maxis. It was part of that wave of simulation games on the SNES that tried to model something small and specific, rather than offering big action or adventure. You don't see many games about running an ant colony.
You control a single worker ant at first, digging tunnels, gathering food, and laying pheromone trails for other ants to follow. The main goal is to expand your colony's territory and eventually defeat the rival red ant colony across the yard. Key mechanics include switching control between different ant types (workers, soldiers, even the queen) and managing the colony's growth screen by screen. The pacing is slow and deliberate; a wrong move can get your ant killed, setting you back. It feels like managing a fragile, bustling society just beneath the grass.
