Simon the Sorcerer is one of those classic point-and-click adventures that feels like it was made by someone who played too much Monkey Island and thought, "What if we did that, but with more British sarcasm?" You play as Simon, a snarky kid who accidentally yeets himself into a fantasy world after messing with a magic book (lesson learned: don’t throw spellbooks).

The first thing you’ll notice is how much the game loves messing with you—Simon complains about pixel-hunting, characters make terrible puns, and half the dialogue options exist just to see how ridiculous you’re willing to be. The puzzles are the usual "combine rubber chicken with a pulley" nonsense, but in a good way. And unlike some older adventures, you can’t soft-lock yourself or die, which is a relief when you’re three hours deep and still carrying a suspiciously large turnip for no clear reason.

What really sticks with me is the tone—it’s got that early '90s adventure game charm where everything’s just a little bit silly, but still weirdly immersive. The map system is a lifesaver too, since backtracking in pixel-art worlds is the worst. If you’ve ever wanted to outwit goblins with pure sarcasm, this is your game.
