Bart's Nightmare came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Sculptured Software. It was one of those early SNES titles that tried to capture the show's humor and energy, back when licensed games were still figuring out how to translate cartoons into something playable.
You control Bart Simpson, trying to recover the pages of his homework after he falls asleep. The game is split between an overworld where you run through Springfield avoiding obstacles, and separate dream levels that play like mini-games. You might be platforming across rooftops, shooting down enemy aircraft in a parody of 1942, or fending off giant babies with a slingshot. It's fast, disjointed, and pretty difficult, with some awkward controls that can frustrate. Playing it feels like flipping through TV channels in the middle of a weird, interactive dream.
