Oh man, Snake Rattle n' Roll on Genesis is one of those games that sticks with you—mostly because it's so bizarre in the best way possible. You're this chunky little snake slithering around trippy isometric levels, vacuuming up these weird floating snacks called Nibbley Pibbleys (yes, really) to grow longer. The whole thing feels like someone took the basic Snake concept, dropped it into a 90s arcade fever dream, and cranked the weirdness dial to 11.
The Genesis version smooths out the NES original's janky controls just enough to make those precision jumps slightly less rage-inducing. You'll still curse when a boulder rolls you off a cliff or some googly-eyed enemy knocks you into lava, but that's part of the charm. And that soundtrack? Pure upbeat funk that somehow makes dying repeatedly feel less painful.
Play it solo if you hate yourself, or grab a friend for co-op chaos where you'll spend as much time accidentally body-blocking each other as actually progressing. Either way, it's a gloriously weird slice of Sega history.
