Game Overview

Snake Rattle n Roll came out on the Sega Genesis in 1990, developed by Rare. It was one of those quirky, colorful platformers that felt right at home on the system, standing out with its oddball concept and isometric perspective. You don't see many games where you play as a snake trying to get fat enough to ring a bell.

You control a snake, Rattle or Roll, and your goal is to eat enough Nibbly Pibbly creatures in each stage to weigh down a scale, which then opens the exit. The main mechanics involve using your tongue to flick enemies and items, and a unique bouncy, slithering movement to navigate the multi-tiered levels. The pacing is fast and a bit slippery, with the difficulty ramping up quickly as platforms get smaller and enemies more aggressive. It feels chaotic and silly, especially with a friend in two-player mode, where you can accidentally (or purposely) mess each other up.
