Play Snapper Online
Dodge those neon ghosts while vacuuming up dots—easy to pick up, but the mazes get mean fast. That glowing pixel trail when you clear a screen? Pure arcade crack.

Snapper came out in 1982 for the Arcade, published by Acornsoft. It was one of those early maze games that felt right at home on the systems of the time, simple in concept but built to keep you feeding coins into the machine. It didn't try to be more than it was, just a solid, straightforward arcade experience.
You control a small creature that moves through a maze, gobbling up dots while avoiding neon ghosts. The main goal is to clear each screen of all dots to advance, with the challenge ramping up as the ghosts get faster and more aggressive. Key mechanics include leaving a temporary glowing trail behind you as you move, which can briefly block the ghosts, and the screen-by-screen progression that gives a real sense of accomplishment with each level cleared. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty climbs steadily, making every decision count. It feels tense and rewarding when you just barely slip past a pursuer to finish the stage.
