Snood came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by Destination Software. It was a portable version of a puzzle game that had already found an audience on computers, and it fit right in with the kind of quick, absorbing experiences people looked for on the GBA. You didn't need a big story or fancy graphics; it was just you and a screen full of colorful, round creatures waiting to be cleared away.
You control a launcher at the bottom of the screen, aiming and firing Snoods upward to form groups of three or more matching colors. When they connect, they disappear, and any Snoods left hanging afterward fall away. The main goal is to clear each screen completely before the advancing rows of Snoods push down too far and end the game. The pacing starts relaxed but quickly becomes tense as you line up shots, plan for chain reactions, and manage the limited ammunition you get per level. It feels satisfying to set off a big collapse and watch the whole structure come tumbling down.
