Snowboard Champions came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Natsume and published by Ubisoft. It was one of several sports titles on the system that tried to capture the feel of more complex console games in a portable format, offering a straightforward take on snowboarding without a lot of frills.
You control a snowboarder racing down a variety of slopes, trying to beat the clock or outperform opponents. The main goal is to complete each course as fast as possible while pulling off tricks for extra points. Signature mechanics include performing grabs and spins by combining directional inputs, and navigating obstacles like trees and jumps that require precise timing. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially on later courses where mistakes cost valuable seconds. It feels responsive and challenging, with a real sense of speed when you find a clean line down the mountain.
