Solaris is that classic Atari 2600 space shooter that somehow feels way deeper than it has any right to. You’re basically the galaxy’s last hope against the Zylons—again—and this time you’ve got this weirdly detailed star map to navigate. At first glance, it’s just dots and lines, but then you realize those tiny symbols actually mean something: enemy squadrons, starbases, even wormholes that’ll fling you across the map.

What I love is how tense it gets when your fuel’s running low. You’re dodging Zylon fighters, trying to scrape together enough juice to warp to the nearest starbase, and suddenly rescuing those stranded cadets on hostile planets feels like a real gamble. Do you risk it for the bonus ship, or play it safe? The Zylons don’t make it easy—some of their fighters weave unpredictably, and those narrow blockade corridors? Pure panic when you’re scraping the walls at full speed.

It’s one of those games where you’ll keep the manual nearby for the first few sessions, but once it clicks, you’ll be hopping sectors like a pro. Just don’t forget to refuel.
