Play Soma Bringer (6rz) (J) Online
Pick a class, then dive into a ruined world where combat feels chunky and satisfying—every dodge and combo lands with weight. The loot system’s addictive, letting you tweak gear until your attacks look completely different.

Okay, so Soma Bringer is this weirdly underrated DS action RPG from the folks who made Xenoblade. You start by picking one of six classes—I went with the dual-wielding rogue type because, well, speed kills—and then you're immediately thrown into this lush, ruined world where everything wants to murder you.
The combat feels weighty in that satisfying way where landing a perfect combo makes the screen shake a little. You'll be dodging giant insect monsters in real-time while managing cooldowns for special skills, which sounds stressful but somehow works perfectly on the DS buttons. And the loot? Oh man, the loot system goes deep—you're constantly tweaking your gear with these modular upgrades that actually change how your attacks look.
What surprised me was how much personality the dungeons have. One minute you're in a glowing crystal cave, the next you're fighting through what looks like the guts of some ancient machine. Just don't expect much hand-holding—the menus are all in Japanese, but the icon-based inventory system makes it totally playable even if you don't read a word.
