If you’ve ever wanted to take Kratos from God of War and throw him into a Soulcalibur brawl on the go, this is your game. Broken Destiny squeezes the flashy weapons and smooth 3D combat of Soulcalibur IV onto the PSP, and somehow it actually works.

You’ve got the usual suspects like Siegfried and Ivy, plus two new faces—Kratos (yes, that Kratos, complete with Blades of Chaos) and some French rogue named Dampierre who fights like a cheesy stage magician. The story mode’s stripped down compared to the console versions, but there’s still plenty to do: quick matches, trials, and even ad-hoc multiplayer if you can find another PSP owner nearby.

It’s not the deepest Soulcalibur, but for a handheld fighter, the fact that it controls this well is kind of a miracle. Just don’t expect to block much—those tiny PSP buttons weren’t made for precise parries.
