Game Overview

Space Harrier hit the Amiga in 1985, a conversion handled by Elite Systems. It arrived during a time when home computers were just beginning to flirt with the kind of smooth, fast scaling and rotation that arcade cabinets delivered, and this port aimed to bring a piece of that spectacle home.

You control a lone runner soaring over checkerboard landscapes and through strange alien worlds, constantly moving forward. Your goal is simple: survive, shoot everything that moves, and defeat the screen-filling bosses that wait at the end of each stage. The key mechanics are your ability to fire a continuous stream of projectiles and to dodge incoming fire and obstacles by moving your character freely across the entire screen, left, right, up, and down. The pace is relentless, the difficulty steep, with enemies swarming in from all directions. It feels like a frantic, high-speed dance where one wrong move ends the run.
