Spacechase came out for the Atari 2600 in 1981, published by Apollo. It was one of those early arcade style shooters that felt right at home on the system, simple in concept but built to test your reflexes. You don't see many people talk about it now, but back then it was just another cartridge you'd pop in when you wanted something straightforward and challenging.

You control a small, triangular ship at the bottom of the screen. Your goal is to survive as long as possible against an endless barrage of alien missiles descending from above. You move your ship left and right to avoid the missiles while firing your own shots upward to destroy them. The missiles come in waves, and they gradually speed up the longer you stay alive, making the screen increasingly chaotic. It feels tense and relentless, a pure test of your timing and focus under pressure.
