If you grew up with the Spawn comics, this Game Boy Color adaptation is a surprisingly solid little brawler. You jump, punch, and occasionally shoot your way through four stages of demonic thugs—most fights come down to timing your punches right, though finding a gun with its painfully limited ammo feels like striking gold.
The levels mix things up between side-scrolling brawls and some vertical climbing sections, plus one totally random motorcycle chase that feels straight out of a TMNT game. Easy mode lets you breeze through with one-hit KOs, but hard mode? That’s where it gets interesting—enemies soak up damage, forcing you to actually think before swinging. And yeah, the real ending’s locked behind that brutal final difficulty.
It’s janky in that classic GBC way, but the moody visuals actually nail Spawn’s vibe better than you’d expect. Just don’t expect deep combat—this is pure ’90s button-mashing with a hellish coat of paint.
