Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions on the Nintendo DS came out in 2010, developed by Beenox. It was a solid action title for the handheld, arriving when the DS library was packed with inventive games, and it offered a different take on the character compared to the bigger console versions.
You control four distinct Spider-Men, each with their own levels and play style. The main goal is to recover fragments of a broken mystical tablet across different realities. You fight through side-scrolling stages, using a mix of basic punches, kicks, and web attacks to clear rooms of enemies. Each Spider-Man has a unique special ability; for instance, Noir can temporarily turn invisible to sneak past guards. The pacing is brisk, with levels that are short and focused, though some enemy encounters can feel a bit repetitive. It feels responsive and fast, like a classic arcade brawler with a Spider-Man coat of paint.
