Play Splatterhouse Online
In Splatterhouse, you control Rick, battling through a monster-filled mansion with your fists and makeshift weapons to save your girlfriend.
I first played Splatterhouse on MAME, the arcade emulator, a few years back. It's the 1988 Namco release, and it fits right in with that era of arcade games that were all about grabbing your attention with something loud and shocking. You don't get a lot of story setup; it just throws you into this messed up situation and tells you to start swinging.
You control Rick, a guy trapped in a monster-infested mansion, and your only goal is to survive and rescue your girlfriend. The gameplay is straightforward side-scrolling action; you move from screen to screen, using your fists, found weapons like planks and knives, and even the dismembered limbs of your enemies to smash everything in your path. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is brutal, expecting you to memorize enemy patterns and environmental hazards. It feels raw and unforgiving, like you're constantly fighting your way out of a corner.
