So SpongeBob accidentally becomes Bikini Bottom’s newest superhero in this one—Mermaidman and Barnacleboy get kidnapped (classic), and suddenly the whole town’s swarming with these annoying little dirty bubbles. You grab Mermaidman’s utility belt and go full crime-fighting sponge mode, which is way more fun than it sounds.

The belt gives you some ridiculous powers—like summoning random sea creatures to help or spinning around in a whirlpool like a deranged kitchen sponge. The levels are these fixed-camera 3D areas where you run around freeing trapped citizens, and yeah, it’s exactly as chaotic as SpongeBob’s life usually is. You’ll recognize all the usual spots—the Krusty Krab, his pineapple house—but now you’re smashing stuff and picking up random items like a tiny yellow tornado.

Fair warning: the villains show up in waves, and some of them are just plain weird. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. It’s a SpongeBob game through and through—silly, slightly unhinged, and weirdly satisfying when you finally clear a level of all those pesky bubbles.
