Remember that weird NES floor pad you'd stomp on? Stadium Events (later renamed World Class Track Meet) was basically the reason to own one. Up to six players could take turns, though only two at a time could actually stand on the Power Pad โ which led to some hilarious crowding during 100m dashes.
You've got four events: sprinting, hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. The single-player mode pits you against increasingly ridiculous animal-themed opponents โ starting with a literal turtle (yeah, you'll crush it) all the way up to a cheetah that feels borderline unfair. Beating them earns you progressively shinier trophies, though good luck getting past the rabbit without sweating.
The Olympics mode strings all events together marathon-style. What's funny is how the game handles multiplayer โ during jumps, everyone waits their turn like polite athletes, but the running events instantly devolve into two people frantically stomping the pad while others heckle from the couch.
