Game Overview
Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back (U) [p1] is an NES side-scroller where you play as Luke, hopping between iconic locations like Hoth and Cloud City. The controls feel stiff—jumping over pits or dodging enemy fire takes some getting used to, and the hit detection can be frustrating.
Flying the snowspeeder on Hoth is probably the best part, weaving between AT-AT legs while trying not to crash. The Dagobah section slows things down with platforming that feels a bit clunky, but the Cloud City duel with Vader at least captures some of the movie's tension.
It's a rough adaptation, but if you're patient with its quirks, there's some nostalgic fun in reliving the Empire Strikes Back story through 8-bit visuals.
