Game Overview

Starfire was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it originally came out in the late 1980s, a time when simple, direct arcade-style games were common on home computers. It was developed by Binary Systems and published by Epyx, fitting right in with the kind of quick, replayable experiences that filled many floppy disks back then.

You pilot a small, nimble ship through a series of single-screen arenas, each packed with enemy formations and obstacles. Your main goal is to survive as long as possible, clearing waves of foes while avoiding their fire and the walls closing in around you. The game uses a lives system with no continues, so mistakes are costly, and the pacing is relentless almost from the start. You're constantly maneuvering, firing, and making tight escapes, with the tension building as the screen gets more crowded. It feels like a pure test of reflexes and patience, where every small victory matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
